The Emotions

Emotion is one of the biological functions that the nervous system has, whose main objective is to produce adaptive behaviors that facilitate the survival of the species. Systems, neuroendocrine and autonomic nervous, are activated in the presence of a stimulus or threatening circumstance. This activation prepares the body for fight or flight in response to that threat. Such behavioral and physiological activity triggered by the emotional brain is taken up by the conscious brain (neocortex and subcortical brain regions) and perceived as feelings.
